Explanation
Individual therapy is a one on one talk session. The initial session is an exchange of information. Before we can begin, we need to have an understanding of one another.
I need to know a little about how you have experienced life from your perspective. I ask questions about your biological, psychological and social upbringing and current life circumstances. This information is the foundation from which we can develop an individualized plan to meet your needs.
You need to be able to ask me questions and to have an opportunity to see if we have a therapeutic connection that you feel comfortable working with.
By the end of this session we will set up a plan designed to meet your needs and addresses your concerns.
We will talk about your goals for therapy and the types of therapeutic interventions which can assist you in meeting those goals.
If you are comfortable with our meeting and would like to continue in therapy,
we will discuss our next appointment and meet again according to your schedule.
